How can you lose weight quickly, without affecting your metabolism or damaging your overall health? There are only two things that I would recommend. But, first let me briefly mention all of the things that I would not recommend.

  • Rely on appetite suppressants.
  • Rely on liquid meal replacement plans.
  • Join Jenny Craig or some other group that delivers packaged meals. They are high in sodium, artificial preservatives, colors and toxins.

If you lose weight by severely limiting your caloric intake, you’ll gain it all back. Stimulant appetite suppressants can negatively affect the function of your heart and circulatory system, cause headaches and migraines and are ineffective when it comes to the “big” picture.

Liquid meal replacement plans, like Slim-Fast, contain too much salt, sugar, artificial preservatives and flavors. They are basically “toxic” to your body’s organs. They may work temporarily but are not a long term cure.

Many people can quickly lose weight when they join places like Jenny Craig, but they always gain it back. Look at Kirstie Alley. She was the spokesperson for a year, but now has gained back nearly all of the pounds that she lost.

  • Make minor changes in your caloric intake, while increasing physical activity.
  • Reduce your sodium intake and avoid processed foods. Depending on how sensitive you are to sodium and how much fluid you retain, you could lose as much as five pounds in a day or even more.
  • Try a colon cleanser and a detoxification supplement. They help your body absorb more nutrients from the food that you eat and detoxifying the organs helps your body burn more fat.
  • Increase your intake of purified water. Invest in a home purifier. Regular tap water and bottled brands contain too many toxins.
  • Take a good nutritional supplement every day. One of the reasons that people overeat has to do with the lack of nutrients in their food. There is no way to meet all of your daily nutritional requirements with food, alone.

It is possible to quickly lose weight without adversely affecting your metabolic rate and your overall health. Many respected experts now believe that the increased obesity rate has a lot to do with all of the “toxic” foods that we eat.

The artificial preservatives, the packaging and all of the other chemical contaminants interfere with the function of the liver, making it more difficult to turn fat stores into energy. These contaminants may also play a role in the increased cancer rate that has been seen in the last 50 years.

Try to eat more “real” foods and less processed ones. Try to be more active on a daily basis. Yes, the experts all say exercise 3-5 times per week. But, you should try to be more active every single day. If it only takes ten minutes to drive someplace, walk instead.

If you’re inactive, you’ll quickly lose weight in this way and improve your overall health. That should be your ultimate goal.
