That’s a lot of information, so let’s get right into it. First, let me tell you a just little about myself or else you’ll wonder, “Who is this guy and why should I listen to him?” I consider myself an expert because I stopped blaming genetics and my fat parents.
I started trying to improve my body when I was a teenager. I went on “doctor approved” diets, read every diet book under the sun and bought thousands of dollars worth of weight loss supplements and fat burning pills. Finally, I learned that losing body fat is simple. That’s one of the things that the diet industry does not want you to know.
NutriSlim’s newest approaches are low-carb meals that you buy from them and carb-blocking dietary supplements…that you also buy from them. Every cell of your body needs three things; carbohydrate, protein and lipids or fat. Your body needs antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, coenzymes and essential fatty acids.
The meals that companies like Jenny Craig and NutriSlim supply are not well balanced. They do not contain enough omega 3 fatty acids and they contain too much omega 6. In fact, unless you eat a lot of fish, it is next to impossible to get enough omega 3 fats in your diet without supplementation. But, you have to choose your dietary supplements with care and I get to that in a moment.
The reason that the companies want to keep you fat is simple. When you stop eating their meals and taking their supplements, you’ll start to gain weight. You’ll think that you failed and you’ll call up the company and start ordering their products again. They have actually made you dependent upon them, so that they can keep taking your money. The reality is that YOU didn’t fail. JENNY failed you.
She failed you by not teaching you how to eat. Sure, you’ll lose weight, but what happens when you start trying to make your own food selections. You haven’t learned anything, so you start regaining the weight that you lost.
What’s worse, the calorie counts in those prepared meals are based on what the “average” person (and the average person is a theoretical mathematical formula, not a real human being) would need to eat to lose weight. Sometimes, that means there is a drastic difference between the number of calories that you are now consuming and what you will get with their meals. Drastic calorie cuts decrease your metabolism.
We use the term “metabolism” to refer to how quickly the cells of your body burn calories. If you cut back on calories too much, you will not be losing body fat, the weight that you lose will be mostly water and lean muscle mass. If you stick to that diet until you’ve lost all of the weight that you want, you’ll be like a “skinny fat person”. You’ll have 10 to 15 pounds of body fat, lots of hanging skin and little lean muscle. Now…on to the next topic…
There are some very healthy supplements out there. I take several of them myself, every day. But, there is no reason to spend $55, $69, $89, $99 or $157 on caffeine, aspirin, ephedrine, hoodia, MaHuang, cinnamon, ginseng, green tea, Acai berry and other “junk-science” stuff like that. In other words, you need the things that you will find in an excellent daily multi-vitamin. There is no evidence to suggest that ANY herb, supplement or Chinese root will help when it comes to burning body fat fast. There is really only one way to do that.
That’s why those fat burning pills don’t work. They use big words like thermodynamics to make you think that you can sit on the sofa and burn fat. Here’s one of the lies that really burns me up.
You do in fact burn calories while you are sleeping. The body can choose to use fat, glucose from the bloodstream or glycogen from the muscles. If you are an active person, it will choose not to use the glycogen, because it knows that you will need it for your workout tomorrow. If it has been a while since you ate, there won’t be much glucose circulating in the bloodstream, so it will choose to start losing body fat fast.
There is no supplement that can encourage your body to burn more calories while you are sleeping. You can however improve your resting metabolic rate and that will increase the number of calories that your body burns at rest. The companies that sell pills for burning body fat don’t tell you about that. Well, to be honest, some of them tell you in the fine print at the bottom of the bottle that you need to eat fewer calories and exercise “for best results”. The truth is this.
