With all of the money that people are throwing at the diet and fitness industry, you would think that everyone would be lean and muscular. Yet, the obesity epidemic continues to grow, worldwide. Why?

That’s the truth of it. If we all got motivated and learned how to really take care of ourselves, there would be no market for…

  • Appetite suppressants
  • Fat burning exercises on video
  • Diet books
  • Diet Foods
  • Weight Loss Drugs
  • Gastric Bypass, Lap Band Surgery or Liposuction

Think about it. If we were all lean and healthy…if we all knew the secrets that body builders and fitness models know about fat burning exercises… if we all learned how to take care of ourselves naturally…and we stuck to the plan, companies like Jenny Craig, Atkins, Weightwatchers and the Zone would be out of business. Doctors would make less money. Not only because they performed fewer surgeries, but also because, but also because people would have fewer health problems.

The pharmaceutical companies have no real interest in keeping you healthy. Their real interest is making money. Think about all of the authors and “diet gurus” that are making their living off of people like you and I…people that just want to look and feel better, have more energy and get more out of life.

While there are some good exercise videos out there, most of them are too complicated for beginners. I remember a time when I had a large shelf in the living room full of work-out videos and fat burning exercises…and you know what? They were collecting dust. Billy Blanks is great, but how many times can you do the same Tai-bo routine?

The truth is that you do not need ANY of those things. What you do need is a little education. Let me get you started.

Why You Should Listen to Me

First of all, I am not selling anything. I am a health writer and have been for many years. Before I became a writer, I spent 20 years working with the sick and the elderly. Many of those years were spent in nursing homes caring for people that could have lived longer healthier lives, if only someone had told them how to do that. When I first started out, I didn’t know how. Back then, we relied on so-called miracle drugs and new surgical procedures not fat burning exercises. There was little, if any, focus on preventative medicine. We were interested in saving or prolonging people’s lives, but in most cases, it was already too late.

I became sadder and sadder as the years went by and very frustrated with the mainstream medical community. As I saw people suffering and sometimes dying from the side effects of the drugs that were supposed to help them, I started learning about natural remedies including fat burning exercises and way to increase your metabolism that are not accompanied by side effects.

There are many things going on inside your body at all times. In order for all of these processes to operate at full efficiency, they need fuel, just like an automobile. The body’s fuel is calories, but you have to count those calories.

I know, I know, you have heard that calories don’t count that you just need to do fat burning exercises more. Well, I am not going to sugarcoat anything for you. Calories do count. After a while, you won’t have to count them anymore, because you learn about the nutritional value of the foods that you eat, as well as the calorie count. The average person eats calorie dense foods that have poor nutritional value. You need to learn about 12 nutrient-dense foods that you should be eating every day and 12 calorie dense foods that you should never eat. You also need to learn how to…

If I could go back in time, I could have saved some lives…if people were willing to learn. The fast food industry may be getting a little better, offering more “healthy” selections, but those hamburgers and French fries that Americans (and lately the rest of the industrialized world) love so much are literally killing people. There isn’t anything on the market that is worse for a person’s health than those artery clogging fried foods. Not only is the fast food industry responsible for making people fat, they are responsible for heart disease, cancer and most of the chronic and life threatening diseases that are out there.

While the fast food industry will claim that they only make these foods available and that it is the public that chooses to eat them. But, I don’t think that the public knows what they are eating. Sure, they’ve started posting nutritional charts, so that people can make an informed decision, but how many times do you see someone reading them?

Cigarette companies are required to put warning labels on their packages and people who smoke are responsible for their decision. There are NO warning labels on fast foods, but there should be…but, I’m starting to rant here. Let me get back to how you can increase your metabolism and turn your body into a fat burning machine.

Here’s what you need to get started:

  • Calculate the number of calories that you need to “maintain” your weight (there’s a simple formula to use)
  • Create a “calorie deficit” by slightly reducing your calorie intake and increasing your level of physical activity
  • Keep a journal, if you lose more than two pounds in a week’s time, you are NOT burning fat, you are cannibalizing your own muscle, so you need to increase your caloric intake
  • Start doing strength training and fat burning exercises on alternating days of the week
  • Change the way that you think about food
  • Read “Burn the Fat, Feed The Muscle” by Tom Venuto to learn more about fat burning exercises and how, when and what to eat

I am not being overdramatic when I tell you how important it is to read Tom’s book. I cannot reprint everything that he has learned in his 24 years as a bodybuilder, personal trainer, health club manager, nutritionist and motivational coach. That would be copyright infringement. Besides that, I am not nearly the motivator that Tom is. If he can’t get you angry at the diet and fitness industry, then no one can. If he can’t get you fired up and ready to get out of your chair, then I doubt that anyone can. He also has a lot of secrets. Believe me, even though I have spent years studying the same things that he has, these were secrets that I did not know.
